Treatment for Developmental Delays in Children

Treatment for Developmental Delays in Children

  • Development of a personalised program based on Professor Blum's proprietary method
  • Identifying the root causes of physical and motor development delays
  • Taking into account medical history, age, developmental level, and degree of delay

General description of the problem

The first year of life is the most crucial, as it is a period of intense growth, during which a child's body doubles in size. All organs and systems grow and develop during this time. The primary milestone of the first year of life is the acquisition of independent actions, culminating in walking.

The gradual learning of complex movements is an essential part of forming a comprehensive perception and sensations, which are the foundation of cognitive development. Any disruption in a child's natural development program will inevitably lead to various consequences. Therefore, it is vital to identify and address these issues in time, so that unresolved problems fr om earlier stages of development do not carry over to subsequent stages.

The stages of physical and cognitive development are interconnected and interdependent. When the pace of motor skill formation is disrupted, signs of delay in emotional and cognitive development emerge, which can eventually lead to serious conditions.

Goals of the First Year of Life

  1. Progression through ontogenetic development within precise timeframes
  2. Qualitative and quantitative changes in tissue structure
  3. Functional maturation of all physiological systems of the body

These tasks can only be accomplished through mastering specific amounts of locomotor activity. Any factors that lim it the volume of physical activity from the first day of a child's life slow down the pace of development and impede the growth of the child's body. This leads to a deterioration in tissue quality, the development of signs of connective tissue dysplasia, dysfunction of the hormonal system, and a weakened immune system.

Features of Treatment for Children with Developmental Delays

Biomechanical methods allow us to correct any orthopaedic and neurological abnormalities from the very first days of life, preventing them from progressing into more severe diagnoses such as cerebral palsy (CP), polyneuropathy, hydrocephalus, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual disability, autism, severe diseases of internal organs, heart conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, and vision impairments.

The conditions addressed at our Centre can be categorised into five main groups:

  1. At-Risk Children: Premature infants, those who have experienced asphyxia, birth injury, hypoxia, cesarean section, intrauterine infection, or intensive treatment in neonatal intensive care unit.
  2. Children with Delayed or Insufficient Motor Skill Development: Those who are not holding their head up, sitting, crawling, standing, or walking according to developmental norms.
  3. Children at Risk for Cerebral Palsy (CP): Exhibiting motor, cognitive, or mental impairments.
  4. Children with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or Hyperactivity, including those with Disinhibited social engagement disorder.
  5. Children with Heart, Vascular, Bone, Joint, and Spinal Diseases.
Program Objectives
  1. Early identification of risks and initial signs of delayed physical development from the first days of life
  2. Development of an individualized plan to eliminate risk factors and restore normal development pace
  3. Addressing both obvious and hidden consequences of impaired growth and development
  4. Catching up on physical and locomotor deficits considering pathogenic mechanisms
  5. Early diagnosis and prevention of serious illnesses in at-risk children and those with negative health factors
  6. Restoring functional capacity and structural integrity of the musculoskeletal system
  7. Continuous monitoring of movement range and muscle response to ensure safety, consistent results, and prevent overload

Our medical strategy

Professor Blum's method allows for the identification of risks and early signs of developmental delay in a child fr om the very first days of life. It helps to prioritise issues and develop an individualised program to eliminate risk factors, restore normal development pace, address both obvious and hidden consequences of impaired growth and development, and compensate for physical and locomotor deficits, all while considering relevant pathogenetic mechanisms.

These programs are designed for children from their first days of life, including healthy newborns with negative tendencies (as a preventive measure), preterm babies, those who have experienced asphyxia, birth injury, hypoxia, cesarean section, infection, intensive medication treatment, or who have been in intensive care and on mechanical ventilation.

The proprietary diagnostic system identifies risk factors and allows for the problem to be addressed at an early stage, preventing serious illnesses in the future. We believe in taking action rather than waiting and merely observing, or hoping that the child will outgrow the issue on their own. Weak points will inevitably develop into pathological compensations, which in turn lead to diagnoses.

Successful recovery of functional performance and structural integrity of the locomotor system, as well as the body as a whole, is ensured by the method's ability to target weak links with unique precision. This restores the tissue structure and function of connective tissue and the muscle, epithelial, and nerve cells embedded in it. Constant monitoring of movement range and specific muscle responses guarantees safety, ensures consistency and predictability of results, and prevents overloading.

Proprietary methodology

The diagnostic system based on six macro-blocks, developed by Professor Blum, enables the identification of all risks and adverse tendencies from the first days of a child's life. It allows us to detect deviations in the progression through ontogenesis phases and develop a personalised plan, wh ere each preceding phase serves as a foundation for the next.

This approach takes into account the child's medical history, biological age, and accumulated developmental deficits. Our goal is to prevent the development of pathologies. The earlier the recovery process begins, the higher the chances of fully compensating for all deficits and removing the child from the risk group by the end of the first year of life.

Each child has unique characteristics related to congenital asymmetry of the body and its parts, acquired deformities and imbalances, as well as uneven tissue development and formation:

  1. Cervical misalignments, with the head and neck drawn into the shoulders.
  2. Enlarged ventricles of the brain, increased intracranial pressure.
  3. Premature closure of the fontanelles.
  4. Sunken, fixed eye globes in the orbit, strabismus, and vision impairments.
  5. Early degenerative changes in connective tissue.
  6. Asymmetrical abduction and adduction of the leg in the hip joint.
  7. Asymmetrical movements of the right and left sides of the body.
  8. Hidden asymmetries of the torso, pelvis, arms, legs, neck, and head.
  9. Intestinal dysfunction, poor digestion, and food absorption.

Our task is to identify predispositions and abnormalities, "erase" the negative consequences of pregnancy pathologies and complicated childbirth, restore all shapes and proportions, and lay a solid foundation for health in the first days of the child's life.

The system of methods, techniques, and specialised rehabilitation equipment developed by Professor Blum enables the restoration of the body's anatomical integrity by correcting misalignments of bones, vertebrae, muscles, tendons, nerve plexuses, arteries, veins, and lymphatic vessels. It creates the necessary conditions for the maturation of the cardiovascular, nervous, respiratory, and digestive systems.

The intervention is carried out with precision, within a specific intensity range, using the required acceleration angle and dozens of other controlled parameters. This ensures a planned response even from the weakest segments, providing the ability to address a wide range of rehabilitation needs for children showing signs of developmental delay from an early age.

Restore Body Geometry—Bringing the Musculoskeletal System Back to Symmetry
This is achieved using patented training devices and specialized equipment designed to act as an external mechanism that influences both the musculoskeletal system and internal organs. Patients with structural imbalances are carefully realigned, essentially "reassembled" into the correct anatomical position.
Renew the cell = renew its environment, improve the quality of connective tissue in the affected organ.
Once this is achieved, muscle, nerve, and epithelial cells can begin to grow, mature, and regenerate in a healthy manner. This fundamental principle has been the cornerstone of Professor Blum’s method, demonstrating successful treatment outcomes for complex and severe diseases for over 50 years.
Identify the Root Cause of Disease—Not Just Treat Symptoms
Over 50 years of clinical practice, this method has proven effective in treating severe systemic diseases such as myopathy, multiple sclerosis, ankylosing spondylitis, and a wide range of chronic conditions. Rehabilitation programs are tailored to the severity of the disease and the patient’s physical capabilities, ensuring treatment without excessive strain or complications.

Program Goals

  1. Determine the gap between the child's chronological and biological age
Determine the gap between the child's chronological and biological age, assess the severity of hypodynamia, and evaluate the degree of uneven tissue growth and development — including tissue metaplasia, hyperplasia, hypoplasia, muscle imbalances, and ligamentous-capsular changes.
  2. Develop a recovery plan
Develop a recovery plan by aligning all functional, structural, and morphological findings into a logical sequence of compensatory, biomechanical, structural, and morphological adjustments, as well as adaptive responses and decompensations.
  3. Implement a program to correct spatial and configurational distortions in body shape and proportions
Implement a program to correct spatial and configurational distortions in body shape and proportions, as well as internal organ displacement and related phenomena—such as adhesions, compressions, torsions, drainage issues, asymmetries in innervation and blood flow, areas of stagnation, hypofunction, and overloads.

Q&A

Noticing developmental issues in our child, we consulted paediatricians, neurologists, and psychologists. Each gave different, sometimes contradictory diagnoses. Time is passing, and our child's condition is worsening. Can you help us find the right path to recovery?

The comprehensive diagnostic approach based on Professor Blum's proprietary method always identifies the root cause of the condition. We separate the cause from the symptoms and focus on eliminating the cause, rather than simply medicating the symptoms. Schedule a consultation with a doctor from our Centre for a detailed assessment and to determine a course of action.

What is the duration of the treatment course for a child with autism?

The duration of the rehabilitation course depends on the severity, the patient's age, the presence of complications, and the degree of motor and speech-cognitive deficits. To determine the exact duration and cost of the course, schedule a free online consultation with a doctor from our Centre.

When can rehabilitation begin after a complicated birth?

Rehabilitation can begin as soon as the newborn’s condition has stabilised and they have been discharged from the hospital. The earlier rehabilitation starts, the better the results. Schedule an online consultation with a doctor from our Centre, and send all discharge summaries, diagnoses, and examination results to determine the goals, exact recovery plan, and cost of the program.

At what age do you accept children?

Our Centre accepts children from the first days of life. The unique aspect of Professor Blum's method is that active, conscious participation from the patient is not required for recovery. The methodology is based on the principles of eccentricity, creating an environment that ensures proper growth and development of the body.

If a child has delayed motor development, will it lead to a delay in speech and cognitive development?

Yes, to some extent. Impaired motor development affects the formation of speech and cognitive development.

What are the signs of delayed locomotor development?
  • At 3 months: does not hold head up, does not roll over;
  • At 4 months: does not turn head toward sounds, does not reach for toys;
  • At 7 months: can't sit without support, does not crawl;
  • At 12 months: does not walk independently.

If you notice one or more of these factors, action should be taken immediately to prevent further delay. The earlier the recovery process begins, the better the results.

Do parents receive a set of exercises to perform at home after completing the rehabilitation course?

At the end of the rehabilitation course, we always provide "homework" – constructive recommendations for care and exercises that help make up for developmental delays at home, carried out by the parents. These exercises support the progress made during rehabilitation and prepare the child for the next course. It is important to understand that the recovery process for a child with cerebral palsy is complex and lengthy.
